Ellevyn graduated from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) with an Honours degree in Physiotherapy and while studying for her degree, obtained a qualification as a Certified Strength and Condition Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). After turning down a Scholarship to complete a PhD with TCD, she pursued her desire to become a Specialised Clinician and has completed a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from UCD (2016-2018). She is currently studying to be an EXOS Performance Specialist.
With a huge enthusiasm for sports, Ellevyn has worked with a number of elite athletes from Leinster Rugby, Donegal Senior Men’s and U20 G.A.A., Irish Senior Men’s International Basketball and Derry City F.C. Ellevyn combines her own sporting background along with her clinical experience while treating patients of all ages and abilities.
Ellevyn is heavily involved with research. She was employed as a Research Assistant with Leinster Rugby and TCD to “Investigate the clinical and MRI presentation of the hips of elite level academy Rugby Union players”. This paper is published in the Journal of Science and Sport.
Ellevyn's thesis from her MSc in Sports Physiotherapy titled "Clinically-Oriented Assessments of Hamstring Muscle Strength are Reliable" has been accepted to the Internal Olympic Committee World Conference on Prevention of Injury & Illness in Sport. She will present this in November 2021.
Aside from her clinical work, Ellevyn is an Assistant Lecturer in Sport in the Letterkenny Institute of Technology lecturing in Anatomy and Physiology, Health Promotion Practice and Health and Fitness Leadership. Within the first three months of lecturing, she developed a new undergraduate Bachelor of Science (Hons) in “Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation” with the first students enrolling for September 2022.
Ellevyn is a keen basketball player having 48 International Caps representing Ireland in numerous European Tournaments. She has won Ulster and All-Ireland medals with Donegal Ladies GAA. As well as a love for team sports, she has competed individually in skiing being awarded Irish Inter-Varsity Ladies Freestyle Skiing Champion six times and second in the British Isles from over 2000 competitors. She was also enrolled into an honours list celebrating a generation of UCD Physiotherapy Sport Stars in December 2016 along with athletes such as Trevor Giles (Meath, Leinster & Gaelic Football All Star) and Paul O’Donovan, (Olympic Silver Medallist & World Champion).
Ellevyn is also an entrepreneur. She was awarded Runner Up in Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur in 2014 for her start up Click Clinic. She owns and runs clinics in both Buncrana and Letterkenny.
